This study examines the issue of sustainable urban planning in relation to urban infrastructure on the Quevedo Boardwalk in Ecuador. The research focuses on the problems caused by the location of the Mercado del Río market, which interrupts the continuity of the boardwalk, as well as vehicle and pedestrian congestion, insecurity, and the deterioration of the urban landscape. Using a mixed approach that included spatial analysis, surveys of 384 users, and a literature review, conclusions were reached regarding urban planning problems in the area. The results show high citizen dissatisfaction with hygiene (59%), safety (73%), and mobility (73%). A master plan is being developed that integrates green areas, bike lanes, sustainable furniture, and a pier, which seeks to regenerate public space, improve quality of life, and promote sustainable development. The proposal is based on principles of urban regeneration, social inclusion, and green infrastructure, interrelating space with nature and society.
