Pelvic floor disorders represent a significant public health concern that markedly affects women's quality of life, particularly in settings with limited access to specialized gynecological services. In Ecuador, the prevalence of these conditions—including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, and sexual dysfunction—has been underestimated, despite their considerable physical, emotional, and social impact. This literature review aims to critically examine the available scientific evidence regarding the implications of these disorders on women’s comprehensive health, taking into account sociocultural, economic, and healthcare system factors that influence timely diagnosis and management. The analysis reveals substantial gaps in national literature and emphasizes the urgent need for public policies centered on prevention, education, and multidisciplinary rehabilitation. An integrative approach to these disorders is vital to ensuring the well-being, dignity, and autonomy of Ecuadorian women.
