Principle of justice in nursing quality management related to patient safety: a systematic review

Nursing care quality consists of applying procedures and treatments to the patient, aimed at meeting patient needs in a timely and safe manner. The study aimed to analyze ethical and quality principles in the application of the principle of justice to ensure patient safety during nursing care. This research was developed through an integrative systematic review. The guidelines established by the PRISMA declaration were used, which seek to ensure validity and reliability in the search, analysis, and systematization of sources. The documentary exploration process was conducted through a bibliographic search in the PubMed, MeSH, Mendeley, SciELO, Elsevier, and other databases. The consolidation of the healthcare system, the care of healthcare personnel, the improvement of safety knowledge among both recipients of care and providers, and the creation of a competency-based training model for managing safety at all levels promote the consistent application of the principle of justice. The consistent use of the principle of justice in the process of managing the quality of nursing services, focused on the safety of care recipients, faces ongoing challenges. A multidisciplinary approach aimed at the benefit of the patient is essential and must take into account the contexts that guarantee the provision of equitable and safe care.
