The ongoing professional development of Dominican teachers in the second cycle of primary education is fundamental to fostering critical thinking and adapting teaching to real-world contexts. In this regard, the present research was conducted at the Technological University of the South, Azua, Dominican Republic, between October and December 2025, with the objective of analyzing teachers' ongoing professional development in mathematical problem-solving in the second cycle of primary education. Using the theoretical methods of historical-logical analysis, analysis-synthesis, and induction-deduction, it was determined that training teachers in updated teaching strategies strengthens their pedagogical skills, facilitating inclusive and effective teaching. Continuing professional development enables teachers to address the specific challenges of the national context by integrating workshops, courses, and technological resources that motivate and enhance their teaching skills. This leads to a positive impact on student performance, contributing to the country's sustainable educational development. The sources consulted highlight that updated training and reflective practice strengthen pedagogical competencies, fostering meaningful learning. However, they also point to the need for greater institutional support to guarantee access to and quality of this training, thus ensuring efficient and relevant mathematics education in the second cycle of primary school.
