Childhood obesity, with its increasing prevalence, has emerged as a public health challenge. Sedentary lifestyles and excessive use of electronic devices are factors that significantly increase the risk of cardiometabolic diseases. Emphasizing the need for early interventions and public policies that promote healthy lifestyles, the incorporation of play into educational phases 3 and 4 is proposed, especially through traditional games, as a cross-cutting tool to promote inclusion and physical activity and reduce sedentary behavior in schools, contributing to a healthier future for children. Pre-Hispanic playground games are presented as an educational strategy, aligned with the principles of the New Mexican School (NEM), to reduce sedentary behavior in Educational Phases 3 and 4. These games promote inclusive, healthy, and intercultural environments while revaluing traditional practices. This phase of the study lays the groundwork for future qualitative interventions, highlighting the importance of recreational physical activity in the school setting to combat childhood obesity and promote healthy development.
