Statistical analysis of the link between age and ovarian function using anti-Müllerian hormone.

Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) currently stands as one of the most precise and stable biomarkers for estimating female ovarian reserve. Its serum concentration reflects the number of antral follicles present in the ovaries and, consequently, a woman’s potential reproductive capacity. The objective of this study was to quantitatively analyze the relationship between serum AMH levels and chronological age in women of reproductive age, in order to establish its usefulness as a predictive parameter of ovarian aging. An observational, cross-sectional, and correlational study was conducted with a sample of 120 women aged 20 to 45 years. Serum AMH levels were determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and descriptive and correlational statistical analyses were applied (Pearson’s correlation coefficient). The results revealed a significant negative correlation (r = -0.71; p < 0.01) between age and AMH concentration. Mean AMH levels decreased progressively from 4.2 ng/mL in the 20–25 age group to 0.9 ng/mL in the 41–45 age group. These findings confirm the inverse association between age and ovarian reserve, reinforcing the clinical relevance of AMH as a predictive marker in the evaluation of female fertility.
