Helicobacter pylori infection remains a major global public health issue, particularly in developing countries. This cross-sectional study aims to assess the prevalence of the infection and examine its associated factors among health science university students in Ambato, Ecuador. Structured surveys and non-invasive diagnostic tests were employed to detect H. pylori. The findings reveal a considerable prevalence, strongly linked to poor dietary habits, inadequate sanitary conditions, and positive family history. Furthermore, participants demonstrated a low risk perception regarding the infection. These results underscore the urgent need for educational and preventive measures within academic settings, as well as institutional policies promoting early diagnosis. This research provides valuable evidence to guide the development of targeted interventions aimed at improving gastrointestinal health among young populations.
