Non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs) are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in rural and underserved areas such as the Quisapincha parish in the Ambato canton. This study explores community-based strategies aimed at preventing and controlling NCDs in the elderly population, emphasizing the role of local health centers, community health promoters, and family support networks. Through a literature review and situational analysis, effective practices were identified, including educational campaigns, periodic health checkups, adapted physical activities, and nutritional follow-up. The study concludes that intersectoral coordination and a strong community approach are essential to improve quality of life and reduce the disease burden among older adults. It also recommends enhancing preventive programs through sustainable resources and ongoing training of healthcare personnel.
