To achieve sustainable development goals and objectives, it is essential to ensure healthy lives and promote the well-being of the population at all ages. In this study, a sociodemographic characterization of older adults in the La Villaflora community in Quito was conducted as part of the research project "Strategy for the Management of Non-Communicable Diseases in the Province of Pichincha, Ecuador" at the Metropolitan University, through a cross-sectional study. The descriptive research was based on surveys and interviews with 65 participants, allowing for the analysis of variables such as age, sex, educational level, and health status. The results showed that 38.1% of older adults suffer from hypertension, 33.3% from diabetes, while 9.5% have heart disease, and 38.1% have rheumatic or degenerative diseases. Furthermore, 70% of participants actively participated in the project's various initiatives, such as talks and workshops on healthy lifestyle habits for the prevention and promotion of non-communicable diseases, activities that contributed to improving their physical and emotional well-being. The findings highlight the importance of integrating older adults into self-care and community-based care strategies as key tools for sustainable development. This community-based approach has proven effective in improving the quality of life of vulnerable older adults and can serve as a replicable model in other communities.
