Acute cardiovascular failure in an autoimmune context: Clinical presentation of a complicated ischemic syndrome in a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem autoimmune disease that can severely affect the cardiovascular system, significantly increasing the risk of acute ischemic events. This case report describes the clinical course of a female patient with SLE who developed an acute myocardial infarction complicated by severe cardiogenic shock. Clinical, laboratory, and therapeutic findings are presented, along with the diagnostic challenges related to the overlap of SLE manifestations and classic acute coronary syndrome symptoms. The case highlights the importance of timely and comprehensive cardiovascular assessment in patients with autoimmune diseases, given the high risk of life-threatening hemodynamic complications. Furthermore, the need for a multidisciplinary approach in managing such patients is emphasized to improve outcomes and reduce morbidity and mortality rates.
