The article is about neonatal sepsis as a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in newborns worldwide, particularly in the Gabriela Alvarado Hospital. The absence of previous studies underscores the relevance of this research, aiming to identify risk factors for early-onset neonatal sepsis. Variable clinical manifestations are highlighted, with respiratory alterations being common. Maternal and neonatal factors such as premature rupture of membranes, maternal fever, prematurity, and male gender are identified as influential. The methodology employs an observational and retrospective design with a representative sample of 276 newborns. The results reveal associations between risk factors and neonatal sepsis, emphasizing the importance of early identification. Key findings include premature rupture of membranes, maternal fever, and complications during childbirth. The conclusion stresses the need for timely treatment to reduce neonatal mortality.
