Web-based computer system for managing patient appointments and medical records

The work synthesizes the engineering process carried out at the Metropolitan University of Ecuador, in the development of a computer system for a private medical entity. The same one that presented difficulties in its information management system, since it was characterized by delays in the processes and their disorganization. It focused on the automation of shift registration and medical records. The solution allowed the treatment of information in patients and their shifts in a centralized way in electronic medical records, which can be accessed from anywhere. This reduced the duplication of information, the loss of medical records and the carrying out of studies and follow-up of cases. The software development process was guided by the RUP development methodology, where the CASE Visual Paradigm Community Edition tool is used to document and model its artifacts. In addition, for the design of the interfaces, the Bootstrap framework was used and consequently with the Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture, the Laravel framework for the PHP programming language and the MariaDB database manager were used.
