This case study describes the psychological assessment and intervention process of a 30-year-old male patient residing in Quito, La Marín sector, presenting recurrent alcohol consumption associated with anxiety symptoms. Initial assessment revealed moderate-to-severe anxiety levels (BAI = 30) and a hazardous drinking pattern (AUDIT = 12), primarily used as an emotional coping strategy in response to occupational and social stressors. An eight-session cognitive-behavioral intervention (CBT) was implemented, targeting emotional regulation, cognitive restructuring, and stress management. Post-intervention results indicated significant reductions in anxiety (BAI = 16) and alcohol risk consumption (AUDIT = 7), along with improvements in emotional self-control and personal and social functioning. Findings support the efficacy of CBT as an integrated approach for anxiety-alcohol comorbidity in young adults within Latin American urban settings.
