This research aimed to determine the factors influencing the vocational and professional guidance process in third-year high school students at a public educational institution in Quito, Ecuador. It was conducted using a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental, descriptive, and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 92 students, who completed a structured questionnaire with a Likert scale and open-ended questions. The results revealed the presence of internal and external factors that influence vocational choice. Among the internal factors, self-knowledge stood out, identified at a moderate level, which limits autonomous decision-making. Regarding external factors, the family environment and economic conditions were prominent, significantly influencing student decisions. Digital environments also play a role in shaping professional aspirations. The study concludes that vocational guidance should be approached from a holistic perspective that strengthens self-knowledge and informed decision-making.
