Strengthening the development of local capacities in climate resilience and agroforestry sustainability constitutes a strategic axis for productive transformation and climate resilience in Cuban rural areas. In this context, the International Project on Municipal Climate Governance and Sustainable Agroforestry Food Production with Low Emissions and Climate Change Adaptation in Cienfuegos and Pinar del Río, Cuba (CienPinos), carried out a series of actions aimed at food security through climate governance and sustainable agroforestry production based on the component of local capacity building; the objective is to share the results of the local capacity building component for climate resilience and agroforestry sustainability in the municipality of Abreus, based on assessments made from the methodological foundations, actions carried out, transformations, and pending challenges. The results show significant progress in the adoption of agroecological practices, climate risk management, and inter-institutional coordination; likewise, challenges related to the sustainability of training processes and the need to expand community participation are identified. It is concluded that the training component of the CienPinos Project is an effective tool for strengthening territorial resilience and promoting sustainable production models in the current Cuban context.
