Self-care and prevention mitigate the complications of type II diabetes mellitus, especially diabetic foot. This study aimed to determine the level of self-care on the prevention of diabetic foot in the community of Alangasí. The methodology had a quantitative observational approach, with a descriptive cross-sectional epidemiological design, evaluating knowledge, attitudes and practices. The population included 45 subjects diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Data were collected using the sociodemographic questionnaire and the "Level of Self-Care in the Prevention of Diabetic Foot" (NAPD) questionnaires. The results showed a predominance of 76% females, with a time of evolution of the pathology between 2-18 years and an age range between 24-90 years. 57.8% demonstrated a high level of knowledge about self-management of the pathology, while 71.1% presented a medium-high perception of the risk of diabetic foot, In routine foot care, 70.6% exhibited a medium-high level of self-care. In conclusion, a predominant level of medium-high self-care is observed in the prevention of diabetic foot, however, there is 6.7% with low self-care, which represents a significant challenge for health personnel.
