This article evaluates nursing care in intensive care units (ICU) using fuzzy cognitive maps to model and understand the relationships between the factors affecting the quality of care. The main objective was to analyze how working conditions, staff training, and available resources impact nursing practice in critical contexts. A qualitative methodology was employed, based on a systematic literature review following PRISMA guidelines, complemented with the use of fuzzy cognitive maps to identify and prioritize the factors influencing care quality. Among the most relevant results, the interrelationship between occupational stress, the prevalence of burnout syndrome, moral fatigue, and psychological wear and tear was highlighted, as these negatively impact the quality of care in the ICU. Additionally, influencing factors such as high workload, lack of focus on personalized care, and the need to improve leadership strategies within the nursing team were identified. The conclusions emphasize the importance of optimizing working conditions and promoting continuous staff training to avoid the automation of care and improve service delivery. It is recommended to implement quality indicators to detect weaknesses in care and apply continuous improvement plans that ensure comprehensive and humanized care, while strengthening leadership models in personnel management to enhance efficiency in the intensive care unit.
